Don't Starve

All you have to do is not die - that can't be too hard for a pro like you can it?

Review

Don't Starve is a very addictive game! The concept is simple, your character Wilson finds himself in a strange land full of plants, creatures, magic and a variety of scary (and not so scary) looking things that want to kill him! The objective is to find enough food to stay alive for as long as possible, crafting various objects from things you find along the way to help you in this endeavour. The most important of which is finding a source of heat and light (e.g. a fire!) and keeping it lit throughout the night when some really nasty things go bump in the dark!
It looks simple to start with but has quite a few twists and turns that keep you on your toes as you adapt your game play to survive in the challenges of each new wilderness area, or enemy, or other pitfall/random event you uncover.
You can unlock more characters as you progress through the game - each has their own unique ability/property that means that you need to adapt your gameplay to survive. This combined with the randomly generated worlds creates the feeling that no two games are ever the same making Don’t Starve a game that is really hard to get bored of!
I personally am really enjoying the competitive edge that is brought by discussing how many days you have survived with your friends and/or checking out your Morgue to see whether you have beaten your own personal best. This is great because it means that the game can be as challenging as you need it to be, as the only person you are competing against (in game at least) is yourself.
However this can be both a blessing and a curse, as the only thing this game is currently lacking for me is a multiplayer option, my SO got a bit bored watching me play (and die) over and over again but I am certain if I had been able to add him in as a second character in the game he would have loved it just as much as me!

I have played Don't Starve for 14 hours, reaching Day 22 on my best play through so far! It hasn't lost its entertainment value yet and is still one of my current go to games.
